To better prepare our children for confirmation and their spiritual walk through youth into adulthood, Christ the King has developed a complete memorization and instruction program. This program called K.I.C.K. (Kids In Christ's Kingdom), is a combination of midweek instruction and confirmation classes.
K.I.C.K. begins in the 1st and 2nd grade class with Bible verses that relate to the evening's lesson, the 10 Commandments, the Lords' Prayer, and the Apostles' Creed. The 3rd and 4th grade classes memory work will build on this framework by adding the meanings to the 10 Commandments, the explanations and meanings of the Apostles' Creed and the Lords' Prayer.
Our goal is that by the time a child enters the 8th grade and is preparing for confirmation, memorizing the chief parts of the Catechism will be a matter of review. Class time then can be spent applying what they have learned to their day to day life experiences.
We realize that our children today have gotten very busy with sports, school activities, family gatherings, etc. But if one were to prioritize these activities, as Christian parents, we would all agree that our faith in Jesus Christ and our eternal salvation is our main focus and should be the same for our children.
